Kids ages 9-12 will have a blast learning how to sew in our new Brother Project Runway Studio through the Sutura Kids program. This once-per-week sewing course teaches kids all the basics of sewing good quality clothing and accessories. We’ve taken the Fashion Industry Methods taught in the Sutura Style Courses, added Brother Project Runway Machines and created Sutura Kids - where we ensure that they learn the professional way from the first day! Kids over 12 are at the perfect age to become Junior Members of their local chapter of the American Sewing Guild

The Sutura Kids program is held in our classroom at Designer Sewing Center. Your child will learn to safely use a full-size (8” to the right of the needle), computerized Brother sewing machine and a Juki 3-4 serger as well as state-of-the-art embroidery machines (Level 4), cover stitch machines (Level 3) and acquire the lifelong skills of understanding technology in the Fashion Industry, the use of robotics and more. They will also have the chance to use Project Runway patterns from Simplicity and New Look (Level 4).
Kids learn best through play and fun activities! All Sutura programs include a pattern drafting element that will help your child with mathematical skills such as calculating, working with fractions, basic geometry, and simple algebra. More importantly, kids have so much fun creating their projects, that they don’t even realize that these skills are being learned until much later. At Level 3, students will draft their first pattern.
Our class size is kept to just 5 students so kids get the attention they need to be successful. There are four progressive levels for the Sutura Kids Program. Click on the links below to learn more about each program so your child is placed appropriately.
